IPC changes its name to Global Electronics Association (GEA) – global leader in standards for the electronics industry since 2025

1 July 2025

The IPC, a global leader in the standardisation of the electronics industry, has announced a historic rebranding. From June 2025, the institution will be known as the Global Electronics Association (GEA).

This change reflects the evolution of the organisation – from an institution focused on printed circuit boards (formerly the Institute for Printed Circuits) to a global body representing the entire modern electronics ecosystem.

What is worth knowing about this change?

  • Global reach: The new name emphasises the international nature of the organisation's activities and unites all participants in the supply chain – from designers to end manufacturers.
  • Continuity of standards: Over 300 technical standards (including key assembly and quality standards) remain the foundation of the organisation's activities. Certificates issued under the IPC banner retain their full validity and prestige.
  • Education and certification: The training system, recognised as the ‘gold standard’ in the aerospace, medical and automotive industries, will be continued and developed under the new brand.

A new era, proven values

The rebranding to Global Electronics Association is a strategic step towards modernity. For companies in the industry, this means greater recognition of standards and stronger representation of industry interests before regulatory bodies around the world. Despite the name change, the key objectives remain the same: supporting innovation, ensuring the highest quality and building the competence of technical staff in the dynamically changing world of electronics.
